Mobile Device Management (MDM) at UC San Diego
What is MDM?
Mobile Device Management is a system that allows IT to ensure that all computers connecting to the university network meet essential cybersecurity standards. At UC San Diego, we use Jamf for Mac and Microsoft Intune for Windows.
(Note: Mac Devices that are currently set up on Intune are in the process of migrating to Jamf)
MDM works behind the scenes to:
Automate the installation of required security software (Trellix EDR and Qualys).
Automate the installation of UCSD licensed and common software (Cisco AnyConnect, Zoom, Microsoft Office, Acrobat, Google Drive, and Chrome)
Keep your operating system and security patches up to date.
Secure university data if a device is ever lost or stolen.
